Other Licensed Practitioner (OLP)-F/T

Position Summary:

Other Licensed Practitioner is a term that refers to non-physician licensed behavioral health practitioners (NP-LBPHP’s). The clinical service is intended to help prevent the progression of behavioral health needs through early identification and intervention and may be provided to children/youth in need of assessment for who behavioral health conditions have not yet been diagnosed. Services are also intended to provide treatment for children/youth with an existing diagnosis for whom flexible community-based treatment is needed to correct ameliorate conditions identified during an assessment process, such problems in functioning or capacity for healthy relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides an initial licensed evaluation of new applicants and determines if client meets medical necessity
  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy on site, in the field, or in the home
  • Provides crisis intervention and makes recommendations for treatment and referral
  • Coordinates with other providers involved in the individual’s treatment
  • Maintains records in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with appropriate regulations
  •  Creates treatment plan in order to describe the condition and services needed for care, detailing scope/practices to be provided, expected outcome, and expected frequency and duration of the treatment for each provider
  • Attend required supervision, meetings ad trainings
  • Continuous monitoring that family choice and voice is present in service delivery
  • Facilitates hospitalization and collaborates with inpatient staff regarding treatment and discharge planning
  • Maintains information on community resources

General responsibilities:

  • Attends workshops, conferences and staff development training seminars on current practices as directed by the Chief Executive Officer or Program Director to acquire continuing education in the appropriate field; implements what has been learned
  • Maintains cooperative relationships with referent and community resources
  • Undertakes related duties as assigned

Administrative Relationships:

The Other Licensed Practitioner reports directly to the Program Director or designee and collaborates with other staff.

Qualifications:

Licensed by NYS in any of the following fields; Psychoanalyst, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, Master Social Worker. At least one year of experience in a community based mental health/chemical dependency facility needed.  A thorough knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques used in mental health and the factors that contribute to personality development, and a thorough knowledge of the social factors affecting mental health are requires. Must have basic computer literacy and excellent verbal and written skills. Valid driver’s license required.

Ability to apply common sense and understanding in order to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problem solving several concrete variables in standardized situations

The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb two step ladder, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
