CoveCare Center recently hosted a LGBTQ+ Pride Day, with decorated booths and activities that focused on topics such as mental health and substance use issues within the LGBTQ+ population; pronouns and gender identity language; the history of the Pride movement; and LGBTQ+ families.
This year’s Pride Day was a pilot program offered to staff and clients of the agency. The goal is to open the event to the public next Pride month–June 2019.
Krista Zanfardino, LCSW, Associate Vice President at CoveCare Center, commented, “We wanted to first focus on informing our staff and clients about LGBTQ+ issues and get their feedback. With over 80 attendees this year, the event was a great success. We are excited to expand our offerings next year and invite members of the community to join us.”
